Cityvarasto is a nation wide self storage company.  The self storage sector is still a young and developing sector in Finland. Global trends such as urbanisation, the shrinking number of apartments and storage spaces, as well as the quantity of goods and the growing need for additional space are creating demand for self storage.

In the past, the property has been used for the sale and repair of cars, as well as fuel distribution. The renovation of the building will begin in early 2020, and a  modern self storage unit and other rentable premises will be opened in the premises. The self storage facility will be the largest in the Lahti region.

With the real estate acquisition, Cityvarasto strengthens its position in Lahti, where  the company already has two offices, in Tonttila and in the city centre on Hämeenkatu (formerly Lahti's Ykkösvarasto warehouse).  After the transaction, the company will have 43 offices in the largest cities around Finland: Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Oulu, Jyväskylä, Kuopio, Lahti, Naantali, Järvenpää, Kerava, Turku, Tampere, Seinäjoki, Pori, Hämeenlinna, Rovaniemi, Porvoo and Hyvinkää.
